Chelsea want to sign proven 28-year-old Premier League striker this month – report

Chelsea want to sign West Ham striker Andy Carroll on loan until the end of the season, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the Blues have identified Carroll as a possible back-up option for Alvaro Morata at Stamford Bridge as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his attack this month.

Chelsea are thought to be on the lookout for attacking reinforcements, with Conte seemingly not fully trusting Michy Batshuayi at the club.

The same report says that Chelsea are interested in signing Carroll on loan until the end of the season, but they could struggle to complete the deal because West Ham boss David Moyes does not want the striker to leave on a temporary deal.

The story says that Chelsea have made an initial “enquiry” about the possibility of signing Carroll until the end of the season.

Carroll, 28, has scored two goals in 12 Premier League games for West Ham so far this season.

Meanwhile, Conte is currently preparing his side for their third-round FA Cup clash against Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues head into the game on the back of their thrilling 2-2 draw with Arsenal at The Emirates on Wednesday night in the Premier League.
