However, violent clashes led to Barca's league match against Las Palmas on Sunday to be played behind closed doors after violent clashes followed the vote.

Bartomeu has confirmed his team plan to go on strike in protest at the violent crackdown by police and the Civil Guardia by refusing to train on Tuesday.

And now he has revealed the Barcelona board will be discussing where the club play their football in the future, potentially leading to the club moving to one of Europe's other leading leagues.

He said: “This situation does not exist so far.

“But with regards to things that can happen in the future, it is something that the board of directors would discuss. It would be something to analyse calmly.

“If we discuss the subject intensely then obviously we will find the best solution. But if this [independence] happens, the board of directors will see.”
